There are also some amazing places to camp in Moab, from family-friendly RV parks to quiet spots with unbeatable views, every preference and need is covered.

In this guide, we’re going to take you on a deep dive into the top Moab camping spots. Here, you’ll find information on site sizes, locations, nearby activities, and more, helping you plan your perfect stay.

ACT Campground

ACT Campground

The ACT Campground is more than just a place to call home for the night – it’s a sustainably managed campground that caters to the environmentally conscious traveler, and the abbreviated name (which stands for “A Community Thrives”), reflect that ethos. Located just 10 minutes from downtown Moab, this is the ideal place if you want the convenience of being close to all the local action while enjoying a peaceful, eco-friendly atmosphere.

You’ll find full hookup sites here that include water, sewer, and 30/50 amp electrical connections. The campground also has free WiFi, restrooms, and showers, and everything is run through green energy sources, with as many recycling and water conservation efforts being made as possible. One of the standout amenities offered at ACT Campground is their communal kitchen, where you’re encouraged to cook and dine with fellow campers using facilities powered by solar panels and rainwater collection systems!

As it is open all year round, ACT Campground is an ideal choice for any season. However, you do need to keep in mind that temperatures in Moab can get quite hot during the summer (up to 100°F), so fall and spring are often busier, as the temperatures are milder. Reservations are also recommended during these times of year, but you don’t need any special permits to camp here.

Another great thing about camping at ACT Campground is that you’re within a 20-minute drive of both Arches National Park and Canyon National Park, making it a perfect base for exploring hiking trails like Delicate Arch Trail and the Mesa Arch Trail. There are also mountain biking, rock climbing, and river rafting opportunities, all within easy reach.

Portal RV Resort

Portal RV Resort

If you’re looking for more of an elevated camping experience, Portal RV Resort offers a touch of luxury in the midst of Moab’s rugged surroundings. It’s also just 3 miles from Downtown Moab, and is one of the area’s premier camping locations, with full hookup RV sites that include 30/50- amp service, water, sewer, and cable TV, along with free WiFi.

The real draw, though, are the resort amenities, including a large pool, hot tub, toilets, showers, and laundry facilities. There’s even an on-site dog park, which is ideal if you’re traveling with your canine companion!

One thing to keep in mind when staying here, however, is that while the resort is open all year round, the swimming pool tends to close from October to March. Also, reservations are a must, especially if you’re planning to visit during Moab’s busy tourist season.

Just like ACT Campground, Portal RV Resort is close to both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, but you’ll also get the added benefit of it being just a short drive from Dead Horse Point State Park. From all destinations, you’ll be able to take advantage of several amazing hiking and biking trails, and with easy and more challenging routes, there’s something for everyone.

Spanish Trail RV Park

Spanish Trail RV Park

Spanish Trail RV Park is a very popular campground that is located about 4 miles south of Downtown Moab, and is a great choice if you’re seeking convenience and comfort, while still remaining close to the national parks. All the RV sites here are pull-through and the come with full hookups, including 30/50-amp service, water, sewer, and cable TV.

You’ll also be able to use the campground’s free WiFi, hot showers, and laundry facilities, and the friendly staff are always on hand to assist with local tips or anything else you need during your stay.

This RV park is open all year round, but, like most other places in Moab, summers here can be very hot. There are some shady areas you can park in, though, which you may be able to ask for these sites when making your reservation, and there are air conditioned common spaces that can offer some relief from the intense desert heat!

As well as being located close to to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, Spanish Trail is just a few miles from the Moab Golf Club and Sand Flats Recreation Area. The latter of these is ideal if you’re looking for an off-roading or mountain biking adventure.

Moab Rim RV Campark

Moab Rim RV Campark

For campers looking for more of a budget-friendly option without sacrificing too many conveniences, Moab Rim RV Campark is a good choice. Despite its lower pricing, you’ll still get full hookups and free WiFi across the 64 sites here, along with bathrooms, showers, playgrounds, and laundry facilities. The park also allows pets, so it’s ideal if you want to bring your furry friend on your adventure!

Given the more minimalist setup of Moab Rim, compared to some other luxury RV sites, it’s important that visitors here come prepared, especially if you’re planning to visit during the heat of the summer. It is open year-round, though, and is particularly pleasant during spring and fall, but it gets very busy during these seasons so it’s best to make a reservation.

Just like the other campgrounds we’ve explored so far, Moab Rim RV Campark is within close proximity to Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, and if you’re into off-roading, the nearby Moab Rom Trail is perfect for ATVs and Jeeps. It’s also a wonderful spot for hiking, with panoramic views of the Colorado River on offer.

Moab KOA Holiday Parks

Moab KOA Holiday Parks

As part of the KOA Holiday chain, the Moab KOA offers a family-friendly camping experience with a long list of amenities that ensure you have a comfortable and fun stay. It’s a particularly good choice for families or groups looking for more than just a basic camping area, and has full hookups, WiFi, a large swimming pool, hot tub, mini golf, a playground, and bike rentals. There are even cabins you can rent for your stay (starting from $80 a night), which is ideal if some members of your party would like to break free from the RV for a night or two.

You don’t need any special permits to camp at the Moab KOA, but its excellent amenities do mean that it gets booked up pretty quickly, especially in the peak season. As such, make your reservations as early as you can. Also, it’s worth noting that, while the swimming pool is a great place to cool off during the summer, it is only open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, so don’t expect to be able to use it if you’re visiting outside of this timeframe.

One of the best things about choosing to stay here for your Moab camping adventure is the close proximity to the La Sal Mountains, where you can enjoy a range of hiking, off-roading, and mountain biking trails. Even if you prefer a gentler pace of life, it’s still an excellent choice for creating a base near the national parks, while still getting all the creature comforts you want.

Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway

Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway

Sun Outdoors Arches Gateway is a newly revamped RV park that is just minutes from the entrance to Arches National Park. This is another good choice for anyone who wants to spend their trip exploring the great outdoors while still getting access to modern amenities, including full hookups, a large pool, hot tub, laundry room, and clean bathrooms.

There’s also an on-site camp store that stocks all the essentials, as well as a bike rental store and an activity center that hosts various events during the high season.

Reservations are a must if you want to stay here, as it’s one of the area’s most popular campgrounds. It is open year round, though, so if you’re thinking of planning a trip during the winter and want the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ll have access to comfortable amenities, this is the place to go. Just keep in mind the swimming pool is only open from spring through fall.

Being so close to Arches National Park, you’ll be just minutes away from some of the most famous hikes in the area, including the Delicate Arch and Balanced Rock trails. This campground is also well-positioned for quick day trips to Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point Park, both of which also have some fantastic hiking trails.

Sunsets of Moab RV Park

Sunsets of Moab RV Park

Located around 5 minutes south of Downtown Moab, Sunsets of Moab RV Park is perfect for campers who want a more laid-back camping experience without all the frills of a resort, but still within easy reach of Moab’s highlights.

That being said, the amenities here are still pretty good, and you’ll find spacious full-hookup sites, clean toilets and showers, and laundry facilities, but it’s really the tranquil setting and amazing sunset views that draws people here.

The park is open year round, and it is particularly popular during the cooler spring and fall months as the summer heat can be pretty intense and there are fewer shaded areas here compared to some other campgrounds. Reservations aren’t always necessary, as there are some sites that are specifically allocated for first-come-first-served camping, but it’s still a good idea to book ahead if you’re planning to visit during the busier seasons.

At Sunsets of Moab RV Park, you’re just a short drive away from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, as well as the Sand Flats Recreation Area. The park is also close to the Colorado River, where you can try your hand at kayaking or rafting, or simply sit back and enjoy the spectacular views.

OK RV Park

OK RV Park

The name may be modest, but OK RV Park is anything but average! This is a relaxed, budget-friendly option located a short drive from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, and it has full hookup sites that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet in length, along with free WiFi, showers, and laundry facilities.

Although the park doesn’t have some of the flashier amenities offered by larger resort-style campgrounds, it’s the simple, no-nonsense approach that attracts campers looking for a tranquil place to call their home from home for a few nights. OK RV Park is also pet friendly, so it’s perfect if you’re bringing your dog with you on your Moab camping adventure, and there is plenty of open space for you both to explore.

As the campground is open all year round, it’s ideal for summer and winter camping alike, but the busiest seasons tend to be spring and summer when temperatures are more manageable. Reservations are highly recommended during these seasons, too, but there are occasionally spaces that can be found on a first-come-first-served basis.

OK RV Park’s prime location makes it an excellent base for exploring the landscapes of southeastern Utah, and you’re just a 15-minute drive from Arches National Park and 40 minutes away from Canyonlands. There are some awesome 4×4 trails nearby, too, including Hell’s Revenge and Fins & Things, and for those who prefer to take things a little easier, the nearby La Sal Mountains trails take you through alpine forests and provide stunning views back down over the red desert rocks below.

Seven Mile RV Park

Seven Mile RV Park

Though Seven Mile RV Park is smaller and more low-key compared to some of the more luxurious resorts in the area, it still offers 54 full-hookup sites that ensure you have everything you need for your RV. The sites here are also large and level, and many are shaded by mature trees, which is a much-needed bonus during the hot Moab summers, while the restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities provide you with some excellent additional facilities ideal for anyone staying multiple days.

Like most campgrounds in Moab, Seven Mile is open all year round, and spring and fall are the most popular times to visit. Summers here can be brutal, with temperatures often climbing above 100ºF, but the park’s shady sites and close proximity to the Colorado River make it much easier to manage.

Naturally, this does mean that spaces can fill up here pretty fast, so it’s best to make a reservation if you want to stay here. You can sometimes find a last-minute space if you’ve forgotten to reserve, especially during the winter, but keep in mind that this campground is much smaller than most others, so booking in advance is always recommended.

When you stay at Seven Mile RV Park, you’ll find yourself in the perfect location for so many different outdoor activities. The Arches National Park is just 10 minutes away, and you’ll be able to head out on some fantastic hiking trails, including the Delicate Arch and Devil’s Garden trails. Canyonlands is a little further away, but still within easy reach for day trips, and one thing you cannot miss while you’re here is a drive along Highway 128 (also known as the River Road), which runs alongside the Colorado River and has breathtaking views of towering red cliffs that any photography enthusiast needs to see.
